When it comes to choosing between wheel - type and track - type skid - steer loaders, it depends on a combination of factors such as the working environment, personal preferences, and budget. These two types of skid - steer loaders have quite a few differences in performance and applicable scenarios.

Wheel - type skid - steer loaders are highly maneuverable and can achieve a 360° in - place turn, with very convenient steering. However, they have a large ground contact pressure. In wet, muddy, or soft soil environments, they are prone to getting stuck and slipping. They are more suitable for working on hard - surfaced grounds such as roads and indoors. Track - type skid - steer loaders have strong off - road capabilities and are excellent at climbing slopes. They are not easy to sink or slip on wet, muddy, or soft ground, are less restricted by terrain, and have better passability. Although track - type loaders can also turn in place, it will cause significant wear and tear on the rubber tracks, so this operation is generally not recommended.

In terms of work application, wheel - type skid - steer loaders have a higher traveling speed and are stable when working on hard ground, being efficient and comfortable. For scenarios like demolition, snow removal, and cleaning, choosing them is definitely a good choice. Compact track - type skid - steer loaders have a larger contact area with the ground and a smaller ground contact pressure, and can provide greater thrust. They are more suitable for working on soft - surfaced grounds such as in gardens and farms.

Overall, if the working environment is not soft ground, wheel - type skid - steer loaders can basically meet the needs of most working conditions and are a practical choice. In terms of procurement cost, track - type skid - steer loaders are a bit higher than wheel - type ones. In terms of operation and maintenance, wheel - type loaders use highly wear - resistant tires, while track - type ones use rubber tracks. The maintenance cost of rubber tracks and their frame structures is higher than that of wheel - type ones, but rubber tracks have a longer service life. Therefore, the frequency of equipment use also needs to be taken into account.
